Job Summary
The School of Arts and Sciences, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at AURAK invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor position in Psychology, beginning in August 2026. The successful candidate will demonstrate both scholarly and practical expertise and contribute to the growth and innovation of AURAK’s undergraduate program in BSc Psychology. This role offers a unique opportunity to advance excellence in psychology education within the UAE’s dynamic higher education landscape by combining theoretical knowledge with professional practice.
About AURAK
The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) is an independent co-education institution of higher education that provides an integrated American-style undergraduate and graduate education. Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses in at least three of the following areas:
- General Psychology
- Brain and Behavior
- Research Methods
- Psychological Data Analysis
- Learning and Memory
- Child Development
- Social Psychology
- Cognitive Psychology
- Psychopathology
- Advise and mentor undergraduate students in research, internships, and career development
- Contribute to curriculum design, program assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain an active research agenda and publish in peer-reviewed and Scopus-indexed journals
- Participate in departmental, school, and university-level committees and service activities
- Engage with the professional psychology community and contribute to public and academic outreach
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Psychology, Clinical, Counseling, I-O, Organizational Behavior, Neuroscience and AI, or a closely related field from an accredited institution
- A strong record of scholarly publications commensurate with the academic rank sought
- Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate courses in at least three of the listed specialization areas
- Evidence of excellence in teaching, student engagement, and curriculum innovation
- Ability to integrate theoretical and practical perspectives in classroom instruction
- Commitment to diversity, collaboration, and interdisciplinary teaching
Additional Desired Qualifications
- Experience in universities following the American model of higher education
- A record of securing external research grants, or clear potential to do so
- Leadership experience at the department, program, or institutional level
