The Department of Veterinary Medicine at United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a senior academic appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level in Large Animal Medicine and Surgery. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape a growing clinical teaching facility and strengthen regional leadership in equine and camel health, welfare, and performance medicine within the UAE and the wider GCC.

Position Overview:
The appointee is expected to provide leadership in clinical training, curriculum innovation, research excellence, and stakeholder engagement, while supporting the College’s accreditation and quality assurance objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching:

  • Deliver high-quality lectures, practical sessions, and clinical instruction in large animal medicine and surgery
  • Employ innovative teaching strategies to ensure engaging, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment

Establishment of Clinical Teaching Facility:

  • Lead and contribute to the establishment of a veterinary clinical teaching facility at the Al Foah University Farm
  • Plan, design, and implement clinical infrastructure aligned with international standards

Development of Clinical Skills Laboratory:

  • Collaborate in the development of a comprehensive clinical skills laboratory focused on large animal procedures

Curriculum Development:

  • Actively participate in development and continuous enhancement of clinical veterinary curriculum
  • Ensure curriculum reflects current advances and best practices

Research:

  • Engage in scholarly research in large animal medicine and surgery
  • Establish and maintain productive research program leading to peer-reviewed publications and external funding

Student Mentorship:

  • Provide academic and professional mentorship to veterinary students
  • Supervise senior projects, internships, and career guidance

Community Engagement:

  • Participate actively in outreach activities and continuing education programs
  • Build partnerships with farms, racing stables, camel breeders, veterinary clinics, and governmental stakeholders

Clinical Service:

  • Maintain active involvement in professional large animal veterinary services

Clinical Coordinator Role:

  • Coordinate Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with internal and external large animal veterinary hospitals, farms, and referral centres
  • Oversee veterinary student internships and clinical rotations

Minimum Qualification:

  • PhD or equivalent degree in Veterinary Medicine and/or Veterinary Surgery with specialization relevant to large animal medicine and surgery
  • Board certification (or board-eligible status with completion within 1–2 years) from a recognized veterinary specialty entity
  • Extensive academic experience teaching large animal medicine and surgery
  • Active clinical research profile with publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a developing clinical teaching environment

Preferred Qualification:

  • Veterinary professional licensure or authorization to practice from European or other internationally accredited jurisdictions
  • Clinical experience in endoscopic diagnostics in large animal practice
  • Clinical experience in evidence-informed complementary and alternative veterinary medicine relevant to large animal practice
