Job Description

The Political Science Program in the Division of Social Science at NYU Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Lecturer position to oversee the capstone seminar sequence for senior undergraduate students enrolled in the International Affairs and Foreign Policy (IAFP) concentration.

Position Overview:
The successful candidate will oversee the capstone seminar sequence, offer IAFP-designated classes, and assist the Head of Undergraduate Affairs in advising students. The capstone project is a culminating experience where students conduct year-long work demonstrating knowledge of key concepts and analytical methods in IAFP.

Teaching Areas:

  • Conflict and cooperation dynamics
  • Strategic interactions of states
  • International organizations
  • Non-state actors across domains (war, terrorism, trade, development, finance, environment, human rights)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Run capstone seminar sequence for 30-40 students in IAFP across two sections throughout the year
  • Offer two IAFP-designated courses each year
  • Assist Head of Undergraduate Affairs in student advising
  • Train students in capstone to demonstrate knowledge of IAFP concepts and analytical methods
  • Participate in professional development opportunities (attending social science conferences)

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Political Science or related field (preferred but not required)
  • Excellent instructor and communicator (oral and written English)
  • Excellent teaching record and related work experience (highly desired)

Start Date: Flexible, but must start no later than August 2027
