Job Description
Muscat University invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Artificial Intelligence to join the Faculty of Transport & Logistics. Applications are welcome from candidates with experience in AI, machine learning, data science, AI applications in logistics and supply chain, and intelligent transportation systems.
Position Overview:
The post holder will work with the Faculty Director to ensure efficient delivery of modules and will be responsible for teaching modules such as Artificial Intelligence in Logistics; Machine Learning for Supply Chain; Data Analysis for Logistics; Supply Chain Decision Support and Analysis; AI-Driven Transportation Systems; and Predictive Analytics in Freight Management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality teaching for undergraduate and graduate Transport and Logistics Management programs with focus on AI, machine learning, and data-driven tools
- Construct, plan, and assess student assignments
- Liaise with Faculty Dean on student matters including timetabling and academic support
- Undertake role of Academic Advisor/Personal Tutor
- Conduct research and scholarly activity for publication in international academic journals
- Engage with external maritime and logistics bodies and industry
- Promote Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda
- Participate in university meetings including Board of Examiners and Programme Reviews
- Supervise UG final-year projects, PG dissertations, and AI competitions
- Engage with businesses, professional bodies, and industry partners
Qualifications & Experience:
- PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or closely related field (Assistant Professor rank)
- Master’s degree considered for Lecturer rank only
- Minimum 2 years Higher Education teaching experience
- Professional qualifications/memberships in recognized AI or computing bodies
- Experience teaching AI, machine learning, or data science modules in Higher Education
- Experience in Omani and GCC HE environments (preferred)
