The College of General Education at the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) invites applications for a faculty position as Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Chemistry. Therefore, this role offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to undergraduate chemistry education at Qatar’s first national university specializing in applied and technical education.

About UDST:


University of Doha for Science and Technology was officially established by the Emiri Decision No13 of 2022, and it is the first national university specializing in academic applied, technical, and professional education in the State of Qatar. Furthermore, UDST has over 70 bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, diplomas, and certificates. Additionally, the university houses 5 colleges:

  • College of Business
  • College of Computing and Information Technology
  • College of Engineering and Technology
  • College of Health Sciences
  • College of General Education

Position Overview:


The Lecturer in Chemistry will focus on delivering high-quality teaching in the College of General Education curriculum and fostering a positive learning environment to support all UDST academic programs. Furthermore, the role involves teaching undergraduate first-year courses, curriculum development, and supporting students in their academic progress without the requirement to conduct independent academic research.

Important Note: This position is open to Master’s degree holders only.

Courses to be Taught:

  • General Chemistry I & II
  • Health Sciences Chemistry
  • Corresponding laboratory components

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching & Learning:

  • First and foremost, deliver high-quality instruction in undergraduate first-year chemistry courses
  • Additionally, teach General Chemistry I & II, Health Sciences Chemistry, and corresponding laboratory components
  • Furthermore, design and deliver teaching materials across a range of courses using student-centered strategies
  • Moreover, develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable students to be active participants in their own education
  • In addition, integrate AI, digital tools, and virtual labs to enhance student engagement
  • Furthermore, create and evaluate authentic assessment tools that reliably measure mastery of course learning outcomes
  • Additionally, manage resources of the learning environment, including print, online, university, and community resources
  • Moreover, maintain course portfolio documents required for program review and accreditation processes

Professional Development & University Service:

  • Furthermore, participate in curriculum development projects to enhance cross-college and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Additionally, contribute positively to university activities and initiatives, including committee work related to curriculum, assessment, student success, and community outreach
  • Moreover, stay aligned with current pedagogical trends in chemistry and education technology through professional organization membership

Required Education:

  • To begin with, candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry from a recognized institution
  • A postgraduate qualification in education, pedagogy, or teaching and learning in higher education (or equivalent) is desirable

Required Experience:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of full-time teaching experience in an upper secondary, post-secondary, or higher education institution is required
  • A combination of recent, relevant academic and/or professional experience may be considered an asset
  • Experience teaching across multiple disciplines within the department is highly desirable
