The College of Public Policy (CPP) accomplishes HBKU’s priority to contribute to effective policy development, evaluation, and dialogue in support of Qatar National Vision 2030. HBKU’s CPP is one of the leading public policy schools and knowledge hubs regionally and globally.
It provides a uniquely situated venue for public conversation in Qatar, and a center for teaching and researching responses to policy questions of local and global relevance. Position
HBKU’s College of Public Policy (CPP) is seeking applications for the position of Dean. The dean will provide visionary leadership for the college, guiding it toward achieving its academic and research objectives while contributing to HBKU’s strategic plan and focus areas. The successful candidate will also lead CPP’s initiatives to support and contribute to effective policy development aligned with the Qatar National Vision 2030, emphasizing economic, human, social, and environmental development.
Role Description
- Develop and implement the college’s strategic vision and goals, ensuring alignment with HBKU’s overarching strategic plan and focus areas.
- Oversee and enhance the college’s academic programs to meet the evolving needs of students and society.
- Promote and support innovative research initiatives and interdisciplinary collaboration across HBKU and within Qatar Foundation’s Education City.
- Recruit, support, and retain a diverse, high-caliber faculty.
- Cultivate strong relationships with external stakeholders (e.g., alumni, government bodies, collaborating institutions, and industry partners).
- Lead the development of a PhD program with the support of other senior faculty members.
Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent degree in public policy/public administration or a related field.
- Full professorship at an established, well-recognized university.
- Proven experience in academic leadership, including successful administration, program development, and strategic planning.
- A strong record of policy leadership, scholarly research, and publications.
- Ability to lead in addressing local, regional, and global challenges.
- A track record of engaging and collaborating with stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the region is desirable.
