Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) invites applications for a full-time Assistant/Associate Professor in Sustainability and Green Economy to join our School of Health and Environmental Studies. We seek a visionary scholar and educator to advance our mission of delivering high-quality, innovative smart learning in one of the most critical fields of our time.

This role is ideal for an expert passionate about tackling global challenges like climate change, promoting the circular economy, and driving the transition to a sustainable future through cutting-edge research and interdisciplinary teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach engaging online undergraduate and graduate courses in sustainability, green technology, circular economy, and sustainability management, using advanced digital learning platforms.
  • Conduct and publish groundbreaking research in high-impact journals on climate change mitigation, renewable energy, sustainable finance, ESG, and the green economy.
  • Secure external funding by developing and submitting persuasive research proposals.
  • Design and develop innovative curricula and e-content that integrate industry best practices and emerging technologies like AI and machine learning.
  • Mentor and advise students throughout their academic journeys, including supervising theses and research projects.
  • Create and lead professional development workshops and short courses for industry professionals and communities.
  • Contribute to academic program accreditation and promote the visibility of the sustainability program.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • A Ph.D. in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Green Economy, or a closely related field from an accredited university; a degree from a top 200-ranked institution is preferred.
  • Expertise in sustainability, green technology, and their application to complex environmental, social, and economic challenges.
  • A demonstrated ability to teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels, with a preference for those able to teach green economy, circular economy, and sustainability management.
  • Proven experience in online teaching and learning environments is essential.
  • A strong record of published research and the potential to secure external funding.
  • Experience in supervising student theses and mentoring learners in research projects.
  • The ability to integrate industry insights and innovative solutions into curriculum and instruction.
