Duties & Responsibilities | | |

| | Position Summary:The Center for Advanced Materials at Qatar University invites applications for the Qatalum/Hydro Faculty Chair at the level of Associate Professor or Full Professor in aluminum production, aluminum smelter process waste treatment, and management, commencing in Spring 2025.The successful candidate should have an established research record in the aluminum industry and applications. They are expected to advance research and provide technical support to the Qatalum/Hydro aluminum industry in Qatar to help solve operational challenges. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to create and advance innovative ideas that cross-disciplinary lines, impacting education and research in the aluminum industry.A Ph.D. in Metallurgy, Mines Engineering, Materials, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, along with 10+ years of research experience and/or industrial exposure, is required. The candidate should be capable of establishing and maintaining an independent, competitively funded research program and liaising with industry. CAM seeks dynamic individuals with outstanding technical expertise and a record of scholarly accomplishments who, given the right opportunity and resources, have the potential to become leaders or further enhance their research stature. Industrial experience in the aluminum industry is desirable.Competencies:Proven record of scholarly activities and research strengths in aluminum production and aluminum smelter process waste treatment and management, as evidenced by publications in high-ranking journals.Ability to attract research funds and develop scholarly endeavors.Capacity to provide technical support to the Qatalum/Hydro aluminum industry in Qatar to help solve operational problems.Experience in advising graduate and undergraduate students and involvement in consulting, service duties, and committee work.A growing international research network, supporting teamwork, and interdisciplinary research with colleagues from other university departments.Strong problem-solving and resolution skills.Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.Ability to work in a diverse, multicultural environment.Proficiency in written and spoken English.Duties and Responsibilities:Develop research in aluminum production and aluminum smelter process waste treatment and management.Supervise graduate and undergraduate theses/projects.Provide technical support to the Qatalum/Hydro aluminum industry in Qatar.Engage in community service and foster industrial relations.Publish and present research in reputable journals and international conferences.Teach undergraduate and graduate courses.Develop research specializations, engage in collaborative research, and obtain competitive research funding.
