Job Description

Ajman University invites applications for a Learning Design Specialist position within the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC). This role collaborates with faculty and subject matter experts to design and develop engaging, effective courses.

Key Responsibilities:

Course Design & Development:

  • Collaborate with faculty and subject matter experts to design engaging courses
  • Apply evidence-based instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM, Backward Design)
  • Create course structures, learning outcomes, instructional materials, and authentic assessments
  • Review and enhance existing courses for alignment with best practices and accreditation standards

Faculty Development:

  • Design and deliver workshops, seminars, and short courses on pedagogy, learning theories, classroom facilitation, learning design principles, assessment strategies, and educational technologies
  • Provide individual consultations and coaching to faculty on teaching practices and course development

Assessment & Improvement:

  • Collect and analyze feedback from faculty and students for continuous improvement
  • Contribute to Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) through presentations and knowledge sharing

Collaboration & Innovation:

  • Collaborate with librarians, multimedia specialists, and IT teams for integrated learning experiences
  • Pilot new approaches to enhance student learning and teaching effectiveness
  • Develop templates, frameworks, and best practices for the teaching community

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Education, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years experience in learning design and faculty development within higher education
  • Bilingual proficiency (Arabic and English) for designing and facilitating faculty workshops
  • In-depth knowledge of instructional design models, adult learning principles, and pedagogical frameworks
  • Experience with quality assurance frameworks (e.g., Quality Matters)
  • Experience designing competency-based and/or experiential learning programs

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Ability to translate pedagogical theory into practical faculty training
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices
  • Proficiency with LMS (Moodle) and authoring tools (Articulate, H5P, Captivate)
  • Strong facilitation, presentation, and coaching skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Collaborative and proactive problem-solving approach

Working Conditions:

  • Typical interior office environment
  • No or very limited physical effort
  • Working remotely not permissible

  • Reports to: Director, Teaching and Learning Center (TLC)
  • Subordinates: None
