Job Description
Ajman University invites applications for a Learning Design Specialist position within the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC). This role collaborates with faculty and subject matter experts to design and develop engaging, effective courses.
Key Responsibilities:
Course Design & Development:
- Collaborate with faculty and subject matter experts to design engaging courses
- Apply evidence-based instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM, Backward Design)
- Create course structures, learning outcomes, instructional materials, and authentic assessments
- Review and enhance existing courses for alignment with best practices and accreditation standards
Faculty Development:
- Design and deliver workshops, seminars, and short courses on pedagogy, learning theories, classroom facilitation, learning design principles, assessment strategies, and educational technologies
- Provide individual consultations and coaching to faculty on teaching practices and course development
Assessment & Improvement:
- Collect and analyze feedback from faculty and students for continuous improvement
- Contribute to Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) through presentations and knowledge sharing
Collaboration & Innovation:
- Collaborate with librarians, multimedia specialists, and IT teams for integrated learning experiences
- Pilot new approaches to enhance student learning and teaching effectiveness
- Develop templates, frameworks, and best practices for the teaching community
Qualifications & Experience:
- Master’s degree in Education, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, or related field
- Minimum 5 years experience in learning design and faculty development within higher education
- Bilingual proficiency (Arabic and English) for designing and facilitating faculty workshops
- In-depth knowledge of instructional design models, adult learning principles, and pedagogical frameworks
- Experience with quality assurance frameworks (e.g., Quality Matters)
- Experience designing competency-based and/or experiential learning programs
Knowledge & Skills:
- Ability to translate pedagogical theory into practical faculty training
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices
- Proficiency with LMS (Moodle) and authoring tools (Articulate, H5P, Captivate)
- Strong facilitation, presentation, and coaching skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Collaborative and proactive problem-solving approach
Working Conditions:
- Typical interior office environment
- No or very limited physical effort
- Working remotely not permissible
