Job Description

Ajman University invites applications for a Data Scientist position within the Office of Vice-Chancellor for Institutional Planning and Effectiveness. This role supports higher management decision-making through descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive models using machine learning algorithms.

Position Overview:
The Data Scientist conducts statistical analyses to support decision-making and provides recommendations based on data analytics to enhance academic quality, student success, and performance effectiveness of colleges and offices.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Data Analysis / Data Engineering:

  • Collect, clean, and preprocess data for analysis

ML Modeling:

  • Develop predictive and prescriptive models using machine learning algorithms

Statistical Analysis:

  • Conduct statistical analyses to support decision-making and solve business problems

Business Intelligence:

  • Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and insights
  • Create data visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings effectively
  • Translate data insights into actionable recommendations for stakeholders
  • Prepare reports and presentations for management
  • Communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Take initiatives to enhance effectiveness, efficiency, and performance of various units
  • Support other team members as directed by the Vice-Chancellor

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or related field required (Master’s preferred)
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience as a data scientist or similar role
  • Strong programming skills in Python or R
  • Proficiency in data analysis and machine learning libraries (Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Colab)
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (Matplotlib, Tableau, Power BI)
  • Familiarity with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark)
  • Project management experience

Working Conditions:
