Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) invites applications for tenured/tenure-track faculty positions at the Associate Professor and Full Professor ranks in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) within its Computing and Mathematical Sciences Division.

About the Position

The Human-Computer Interaction area within MBZUAI’s Computing and Mathematical Sciences Division seeks an established academic leader whose work positions technical data visualization as a core mechanism for human-AI collaboration, reasoning, and multi-stakeholder sensemaking.

The successful candidate will use deep technical expertise to expose internal system dynamics and translate computational complexity into forms that people can understand and use for collaborative reasoning and decision-making.

MBZUAI is particularly interested in candidates with an internationally recognized research record demonstrating how interactive and dynamic visual interfaces can support human reasoning, decision-making, and oversight of complex computational systems.

Candidates should maintain an active research agenda, appropriate to their academic rank, that establishes visual interfaces as frameworks for collaborative sensemaking and systems oversight.

The successful candidate will also:

• Contribute to MBZUAI’s growing graduate degree programs.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science, Information Science, Cognitive Science, Design Engineering, or a related field by the time of appointment.

Candidates should also demonstrate:

• A strong research record in HCI, including publications in top-tier venues and funded research, as appropriate to career stage.
• Established excellence in teaching and mentoring appropriate to appointment at the Associate Professor or Full Professor level.
