The American University of the Middle East (AUM) invites applications for full-time Assistant Professor and Associate Professor positions in Information Systems and Technology within its College of Engineering and Technology.

Assistant/Associate Professor Information Systems – Position Overview

AUM’s College of Engineering and Technology is recruiting faculty members who can contribute to teaching, research, student advising, academic service, and professional development.

Successful candidates are expected to maintain active research profiles, publish in refereed journals, deliver high-quality undergraduate teaching, mentor students, and contribute to departmental and College activities.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold:

  • A PhD in Computer Science from an internationally accredited university.

The doctorate should include expertise in one or more Artificial Intelligence subfields, such as:

  • Machine Learning.
  • Natural Language Processing.
  • Computer Vision.
  • Genetic Algorithms.
  • Swarm Intelligence.
  • Related AI areas.

Academic and Professional Experience

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • An excellent publication record, particularly during the last five years.
  • Strong research capability.
  • Evidence of continuing academic achievement.
  • Ability to publish in refereed journals.
  • Commitment to teaching excellence.
  • Undergraduate student-advising capability.
  • Strong written and spoken English.
  • Ability to maintain and develop subject expertise.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced academic environment.

Applicants should also have:

  • At least two to three years of relevant work experience in a reputable university or company.

Industry experience is considered an advantage.

Programming and Technical Skills

Applicants should demonstrate proficiency in one or more of the following programming languages:

  • Python.
  • C++.
  • C#.
  • JavaScript.
  • Java.

Candidates should also have experience with:

  • Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS).

Experience in Immersive Technology is considered a significant advantage.

Preferred Teaching and Research Areas

Applicants should demonstrate teaching experience and research interest in at least one of the following areas:

  • Artificial Intelligence and related subfields.
  • Database Programming.
  • Object-Oriented Programming.
  • Systems Analysis and Design.
  • Project Management.

The position therefore spans both technical computing and applied information-systems subjects.

Research Responsibilities

The successful candidate will contribute substantially to the Department’s research activities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting original research.
  • Publishing findings in refereed journals.
  • Maintaining an active research programme.
  • Contributing to the advancement of departmental research.
  • Remaining current in the candidate’s field of expertise.
