About the Role

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS) invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Mathematics, at either Lecturer or Assistant Professor rank depending on qualifications. The successful candidate will teach mathematics courses, conduct scholarly and applied research, support student learning, and contribute to quality assurance, accreditation, curriculum development, and community engagement activities.

Core Teaching Areas May Include

Calculus I, II, and III; Linear Algebra; Probability and Statistics; Discrete Mathematics; Numerical Methods; Business Mathematics; Applied Mathematics

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and/or postgraduate mathematics courses in face-to-face, online, and blended learning modes
  • Develop course syllabi, instructional materials, assessment tasks, rubrics, and course files aligned with learning outcomes
  • Integrate technology-enhanced learning tools, mathematical software, and real-world applications into teaching
  • Conduct research and publish in peer-reviewed journals; contribute to funded research projects, consultancy, and community engagement initiatives
  • Advise and mentor students, supervise projects, and support academic and professional development activities
  • Participate in curriculum review, program assessment, moderation, accreditation activities, and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) processes
  • Contribute to departmental committees, outreach activities, and institutional service

Required Qualifications

Assistant Professor

  • Ph.D. in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, from a recognized university

Lecturer

  • Master’s degree in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, from a recognized university (Omanis preferred)

Essential Requirements

  • Evidence of effective teaching at the university level
  • Ability to teach a broad range of mathematics courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Experience in online and hybrid teaching using modern educational technologies
  • Strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in student advising and mentoring

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Research expertise in areas such as Mathematics or Applied Mathematics
  • Experience with mathematical software and programming tools such as MATLAB, R, Mathematica, or Maple
  • Professional certifications or industry experience relevant to mathematics, analytics, or operations research
  • Experience with curriculum development, outcome-based education, and accreditation processes

Quality Assurance and Accreditation Contributions

  • Participate in quality assurance, assessment, and continuous improvement activities of the program and department
  • Support curriculum review, program enhancement, and accreditation-related initiatives
  • Contribute to departmental committees and activities that support academic quality and institutional effectiveness

Preferred Research and Academic Contributions

  • Contribute to interdisciplinary research initiatives involving mathematics, data science, artificial intelligence, finance, engineering, and business applications
  • Participate in research clusters, grant applications, and scholarly collaborations
  • Support student research activities and promote a culture of innovation and lifelong learning
